Region III History instructors  with the Speakers and CHEDRO III supervisor Dr. Sol dela Cruz at Vigan City

Atty. Robert John I. Donesa and Prof. Irene Mae L. Manabat of Systems Plus College Foundation attend Seminar – Workshop on Oral and Local History on October 22-23, 2007 at University of Northern Philippines, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

The Seminar-Workshop focuses on local history and its role in putting together a national history. It also tackles the role of local history as a tool in establishing a right or a legal status. As a workshop, approaches to local historiography and relevant sources of history were discussed. Papers on the reestablishing the status of a city of Tayabas and Vigan were delivered to emphasize the role of local history in winning an exemption from the stringent requirements of Cityhood before the Congress.

New findings in history were also revealed to correct some obsolete facts in History textbooks. Local historians were encouraged to rewrite the history textbooks. Both attendees are expected to conduct a re-echo seminar to members of the faculty teaching history.
